Emerging market specialist Actis Capital has opened an office in Mexico City, making it the 12th global office for the firm, according to a statement.
The London-based private equity firm is reinforcing its interest and development in the Latin American energy sector by adding the newest location in Mexico, to take advantage of the government's programme to de-regulate the energy market.Â
“It is an important market for Actis to have presence as a dedicated emerging markets investor,” Actis head of Mexico office Michael Harrington said. “We see particular promise in the energy sector due to the size and expected growth of the opportunity.”
The firm has 15 years of experience investing over $1.2 billion (£783.23 million; €1.07 million) in Latin America, accounting for 16 percent of its capital. More than half of the investment went toward the energy sector. Financial services and consumer sectors in the region also received funding from Actis.
Actis currently manages $7.6 billion in assets, specialising in private equity, energy and real estate. It spans across nine countries and has offices in cities including Cairo, Beijing, Delhi and Lagos.
