Arkansas Teacher Retirement System has confirmed $90 million in commitments to three private equity vehicles, according to materials from the pension’s December 2021 board of trustees meeting.

The pension has committed $30 million each to two funds managed by Franklin Parks: Franklin Park International Fund XI and Franklin Park Venture Capital Opportunity Fund. The remaining $30 million was committed to Riverside Value Fund I.

These commitments are part of the pension’s 2022 private equity commitment pacing plan which will total around $350 million. With the remainder of this allocated capital, the pension will:

  • Invest between $30 million-$35 million to six North American buyout/growth funds.
  • Invest $30 million to debt or distress assets.
  • To commit further capital to Franklin Park funds, including one co-investment and $30 million to each of the following funds: Franklin Park Venture Fund XIV and and Franklin Park Corporate Finance Access Fund II.

The $21.2 billion US public pension has a 12.6 percent current allocation to private equity and as illustrated below, tends to target North America-focused vehicles pursuing a variety of sectors.
