Barclays Capital expands financial sponsor coverage

Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays PLC, has named Tyrone Cooney as a director in its financial sponsor coverage team. Based in Paris, he will cover the French financial sponsor community and will report jointly to John Leach, head of continental European financial sponsors coverage at Barclays Capital in London, and to Jean Barbizet, managing director and country head of Barclays Capital in France.

Chris Coles, head of financial sponsor coverage at Barclays Capital said, “Following the recent arrival of a team of leveraged finance professionals in Germany, Tyrone’s appointment is a further demonstration of our commitment to Continental Europe where we have already enjoyed a number of successes.”

Cooney joins Barclays Capital from Royal Bank of Scotland in Paris, where he was a director in the leveraged finance group. Before that he spent four years also as a director in leveraged finance with Société Générale in Paris, where he was responsible for acquisition financing of leverage buy-outs by European and US investment funds, as well as corporate acquisitions.
