Boston-based private equity firm Berkshire Partners has hired Matthew Janachar to become its director of capital markets. In the new position, Janachar will oversee the firm’s financing activities.
Janachar comes to the firm from New York-based investment firm Oak Hill Advisors. There he was a managing director and managed debt, equity and structured finance positions. He previously worked in Goldman Sachs’ leveraged finance group and specialized in leveraged transactions.
“Bringing Matt’s financing expertise in-house will allow our deal teams to more effectively pursue, assess and consummate transactions,” Chris Hadley, a Berkshire managing director said in a statement.
Berkshire invests in mid-sized private companies. It focuses on the consumer products, industrial manufacturing, transportation, communications, business services and retail industries. It closed its seventh fund, Berkshire Fund VII, at $3.1 billion last October. The fund will make equity investments of $50 million to $350 million, primarily in North America.
Warburg Pincus also has an in-house financial advisor. That firm appointed Christopher Turner to be the head of its capital markets group in 2005. Turner oversees Warburg Pincus’s commercial and investment banking relationships.
