British Patient Capital approved $75m commitment

The UK government-backed investor has committed to a growth equity fund.

British Patient Capital, a subsidiary of British Business Bank, has committed $75 million to Balderton Capital Growth I, according to a recent press release. This represents the third investment that the investment company has made into Balderton Capital’s private equity vehicles, including committing to Balderton Capital Fund VII in 2019.

Balderton’s debut growth fund closed on $680 million earlier this month and will investment primarily in growth stage companies and is sector agnostic. The fund will build a portfolio of around 15 companies, investing anywhere between $25 million to $250 million per deal.

British Patient Capital tends to focus its private equity fund commitments on venture capital and growth equity vehicles.
