BVT and Cukierman to raise €200m

The German and US alternative investment manager is joining forces with Cukierman & Co, an Israeli investment banking group, to launch a €200m private equity fund.

BVT, the Munich-based investor in renewable energy and real estate, is partnering with Cukierman & Co to create a €200 million ($268 million) private equity fund. While details have not been disclosed, it is likely that the fund will invest in renewable energy projects in Europe

BVT, which has offices in Germany and the US, manages €1.5 billion in funds for green energy-related projects.

Cukierman, which focuses among other things, on the financing of renewable energy projects in EU countries, is also partnering with Swiss engineering firm Stucky and a group of private investors to purchase two Georgian hydroelectric power stations, according to a statement on the firm’s website.

Cukierman & Co is an investment banking group, which since its foundation in 1993, has carried out transactions with a total value of €2.36 billion through private placements, IPOs and mergers and acquisitions.

Cukierman’s private equity fund management firm, Catalyst Investments, is now in investing its second fund, which focuses on Israeli growth companies looking to expand internationally.

Both BVT and Cukierman were unavailable for comment.
