CalPERS commits $1.4bn to 4 funds

The $350bn US public pension backs three North American-focused funds and a European buyout fund.

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) approved four commitments totalling over $1 billion to four private equity funds.

The $350 billion US public pension disclosed commitments completed in November 2017 of $600 million to Carlyle Partners VII, $300 million to Insight Venture Partners X and $75 million to Valor Equity Partners IV.

The board additionally invested $437.5 million in Bridgepoint Europe VI and Wigmore Street VI Co-Investment No. 1, Bridgepoint’s parallel co-investment vehicle, in December.

CalPERS has an 8 percent target allocation to private equity that currently stands at 7.6 percent.
