Carlyle names Tsou MD in Hong Kong

The global private equity firm nabs a seasoned technology investor from Warburg Pincus.

The Carlyle Group today announced that Wayne Wen-Tsui Tsou will join the firm’s Hong Kong office as a managing director on March 1.

Tsou has been with Warburg Pincus’ Asia operation since 1997. Prior to that, he was a mergers and acquisitions specialist with Lazard Freres and Morgan Stanley. Tsou is a native of Shanghai.

At Carlyle, Tsou will lead venture investments in the Asia-Pacific region, according to a press release. He will join Tony Jansz, who co-founded Carlyle Asia Venture Partners in 1999.

“[Tsou’s] expertise in technology, business services, and telecom complements Carlye’s Asia venture investment focus,” said Daniel D’Aniello, Carlyle’s managing director and co-founder.
