Cipio recruits Silicon Valley principal

Cipio Partners has recruited Sven Weber as principal of its Silicon Valley office after buying the entire communications venture capital portfolio of Siemens in a record secondaries deal. Weber worked as vice president in the same sector at the technology group.

Secondary direct investor Cipio Partners has appointed Sven Weber as principal of its Silicon Valley office.

Weber joins Cipio Partners from Innovature Capital Partners, where he was managing partner.

Before Innovature Capital Partners, he was vice president of the US early stage communications unit at technology group Siemens, where he served on the board of a number of growth companies.

In early April, Cipio bought Siemens’ entire venture capital communications portfolio for an undisclosed sum, in one of the biggest direct secondary deals in the last few years.

Weber has also worked with telecom carriers Vodafone and British Telecom and founded two broadcast businesses.

Cipio Partners has a portfolio with more than 50 companies in software, semiconductor, communications and new media worldwide. According to a statement the firm expects to aggressively pursue portfolio acquisitions in the US.
