Clinvest, the private equity unit of Crédit Lyonnais, has hired Guy de Panafieu a former Suez-Lyonnaise des Eaux chief, as an advisor to its French industrials unit.
It is understood that Clinvest is keen on de Panafieu’s government and industrial contacts, which he has developed over the last 30 years while working for the French government as well as Suez-Lyonnaise des Eaux, the former French-state owned utility.
Today De Panafieu is president of the international commission of the Mouvement des Entreprises de France (Medef), France's largest business employers' organisation. In the past, he has worked with the French Government.
Between 1983 and 1997, during his time at Suez-Lyonnaise, he was finance director for five years, deputy chief executive for nine years and CEO for one. He left in 1997 to take over as group chief executive of Bull, a French IT business.
