Dallas Police & Fire Pension hires new CIO

In his previous role, James A. Perry restructured the PE portfolio at Texas Tech University System.

The Dallas Police & Fire Pension System announced this week that James A. Perry is joining the pension fund in a newly created role of chief investment officer, according to a statement.

Perry is currently the assistant vice chancellor and assistant chief investment officer at Texas Tech University System where he has collaborated with the CIO to restructure certain asset classes, including its private equity portfolio. He has also led fund sourcing and due diligence, the statement said. Texas Tech has a $1.1 billion endowment.

Any changes to the DPFP’s investment strategy will be decided after Perry assumes his position next month, a spokesperson said.

Perry will assume the post on 1 September and report to executive director Kelly Gottschalk. He will oversee all the funds investments in its $3.1 billion portfolio.

Before Texas Tech, Perry was a senior investment Officer at San Bernardino County Employees’ Retirement Association with $8 billion in assets.
