AMJPE backs £30m Transrent growth

Aberdeen Murray Johnstone Private Equity and Penta Capital have announced the completion of a £30m debt and equity investment package in Transrent, the Stafford-based trailer rental company.

AMJPE and Penta Capital have contributed £5.25m to the financing round, which includes long-term debt and asset finance. Transrent will use the proceeds to finance a three-year expansion plan in trailer rental, finance and other related market segments.

Apax and 3i lead Sonim first round

UK private equity houses Apax Partners and 3i have co-led an $18.6m first round of institutional financing for Sonim Technologies, a California-based provider of instant communications solutions.

Sonim will use the financing to deliver what it calls ‘the next generation of voice communication services’. It has already developed technology that enables carriers to launch real-time voice and text services over wireless date networks.

John McGonigall from Apax Partners and Robin Murray from 3i will join the board of Sonim Technologies.
