European Capital bolsters UK office

European Capital, a buyout and mezzanine shop with offices in London and Paris, has made four hires, including two directors from Credit Suisse Private Equity.

European Capital, the European affiliate of buyout and mezzanine firm American Capital Strategies, has hired two directors and two associates in its London office.

Alex Morey and Julian Masters have joined the UK buyouts team as director and investment director respectively. Athesa Guna and Ivana Stoyanov have joined as associates.

The new hires will work alongside Simon Henderson, managing director, Giles Cheek, director, and Fergus Hall, investment director.

Morey has joined from Credit Suisse Private Equity, the global private equity arm of Credit Suisse, where he was a director. Before Credit Suisse, Morey advised on UK buyouts at Arthur Andersen Corporate Finance. He started his career in the corporate finance team at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Masters was also previously at Credit Suisse Private Equity, where he was a director. Before that, he worked in the transaction service group at PricewaterhouseCooper, including a nine-month secondment to Bridgepoint, the pan-European mid-market investor.

Guna has joined European Capital from Merrill Lynch & Co, Stoyanov from McKinsey & Company.

European Capital launched last August with offices in London and Paris. Henderson told PEO earlier this year that the UK team expected to make its first acquisition in the second or third quarter.
