Ex-prime minister to chair Scandinavian VC alliance

Carl Bildt, Sweden’s prime minister from 1991 to 1994, will chair the 15-firm strong Nordic Venture Network.

The Nordic Venture Network (NVH) has named former Swedish prime minister Carl Bildt as its new chairman. The announcement came at the NVN’s AGM in Helsinki.

During his time as Sweden’s prime minister from 1991 to 1994, Bildt led a four-party coalition. He negotiated Sweden's accession to the European Union in 1994 and set up structural reforms to improve the country’s competitiveness. Bildt has also worked as the UN secretary general's special envoy for the Balkans.

The NVN consists of about 15 Scandinavian venture capitalists, including Ledstierman of Sweden and Eqvitec Partners, based in Finland. It was set up two years ago in reaction to the increased investment opportunity arising in the Nordic region.
