Finatem collects €112m for first close on Fund III

The Frankfurt-based firm is targeting €150m for its third fund.

Finatem, a German firm focused on the mid-market, has held a first close on its third fund on €112 million.

The fund is targeting €150 million. Finatem’s second fund, which totaled €125 million, is fully invested.

More than 70 percent of the commitments in the third fund are from institutional investors, and about 60 percent of the amount comes from international investors. The firm also has targeted family offices.

The firm’s first two funds included investors mostly located in France and Germany. For Fund III, Finatem has been able to branch out to some “international investors”, the firm said.

Frankfurt-based Finatem will focus investments in the third fund on acquiring majority stakes in buyouts of small and mid-sized German companies with enterprise values between €20 million and €50 million.

The firm was established in 2000 and has completed 11 platform acquisitions, seven add-ons and exited five investments. Finatem is headed by investment partners, including Christophe Hemmerle, founding partner, and Robert Hennigs, managing director.
