Genstar hires IR exec from CapDyn

The San Francisco-based mid-market firm has created a new investor relations position.

Genstar Capital Management has hired Gretchen Robinson for the newly created role of vice president of investor relations.

Robinson joins from Capital Dynamics, where she was a vice president in investment management responsible for more than $500 million in commitments. Capital Dynamics committed primary capital to Genstar under Robinson’s watch.

San Francisco-based Genstar targets investments focused on selected sectors within the financial services, software, healthcare, and industrial technology industries.

The firm recently sold TravelClick, a cloud services provider for the hospitality industry, to Thoma Bravo for $930 million, and ConvergenceOne an enterprise communications provider to Clearlake Capital. Genstar acquired both companies in 2007.

Genstar most recently closed its Genstar Capital Partners VI fund in January 2013 on $912 million. The firm has approximately $3 billion of committed capital under management.
