Gimv and Capco partnership

The two firms have joined forces to promote each other’s wares and work on European investments in the financial IT services market.

Gimv, the Belgian venture capitalist and Capco, the financial IT and services company, have partnered to invest in the European technology and financial services sector.

The agreement makes Capco an advisor to Gimv, performing due diligence on its European investments. Capco gains co-investment rights and the two groups will push each other’s services to their clients and customers.

Bart Diels, executive investment manager at Gimv, said the main drivers for the partnership were access to Capco's knowledge base, its reputation in the financial services industry and the right of first refusal on the European investment opportunities received through the Capco network.

Gimv 's ICT department has made several investments in this sector including Beyers & Partners, a company developing treasury & risk management software, Business Architects International, a banking and insurance solutions firm and CR2, a channel banking software house.

Capco has entrenched itself in such markets as straight-through processing (STP) and financial data management and as such Michael Akkermans, a member of Capco's board, is joining Gimv has a portfolio of more than 200 companies and is valued at more than E1.3bn.'s e-finance team on a part-time basis, and will also act as a co-investment partner to Gimv has a portfolio of more than 200 companies and is valued at more than E1.3bn.
