The European private equity firm has made two appointments as it looks to build on its recent activity in the European mid-market.

Granville Baird Capital Partners, the European mid-market investor has made a brace of appointments at its UK operations, naming Simon Havers and James Benfield as director and investment manager respectively at the firm’s London offices.

Havers joins the firm from ABN Amro Capital, where he worked in the business services and technology team. This is Havers’ second spell at Granville Baird, having previously worked for the firm between 1994 and 1998.

James Benfield becomes an investment manager at Granville Baird’s healthcare team, joining the firm from Pi Capital where he worked across the firm’s private equity and private placement activities. Benfield will focus on the firm's investments in healthcare services, outsourcing, medical supplies and devices and medical IT.

The appointments increase the number of executives across the firm’s offices in Barcelona, Hamburg, London and Manchester to 25. The firm’s four main investment areas are IT, business services, healthcare and industrial products and services. The firm looks to make investments of between £3m to £15m in small and mid-market in Europe.

Granville Baird has recently been one of the more active players in the European market, completing five deals in the past three months. The firm’s most recent deal was a £3m investment in Wesupply, a Coventry-based supply chain business.
