König, who has also been named head of sales and client service for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at HarbourVest, will focus on the firm’s relationships with investors and their advisers. He is based in HarbourVest’s London office and will work alongside principal Hannah Tobin.
“[König] brings extensive experience of working with clients in private markets, and as investors work to navigate the post-AIFMD environment, that experience will be particularly valuable,” HarbourVest managing director George Anson said in a statement.

At Eaton Partners, König focused on German-speaking countries and UK-based limited partners. He was previously a managing director of business development at asset manager Capital Dynamics in Zurich and London.
Founded in 1978, HarbourVest and has committed more than $25 billion to newly-formed funds and completed more than $10 billion in secondary purchases. Its London office opened in 1990 to focus on European deals, although the firm made its first European investment in 1984, according to its website. The firm’s other offices are in Boston, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Bogotá and Beijing.
