HgCapital expands ICT coverage

Nic Humphries has left Geocapital Partners to join HgCapital's technology operation.

HgCapital, the European private equity shop formerly known as Mercury Private Equity. has appointed Nic Humphries as a Director to join its Information & Communications Technology (ICT) investment team in London.

Humphries has spent over ten years in venture capital, five of which have been focused on technology investments. Most recently he was a general partner at Geocapital Partners where he established a European team that completed 13 internet, software and communications-related transactions across 7 European countries. He worked on deals including Geneva Technology and Stepstone.com.

Humphries was previously head of Barclays Private Equity's IT and Telecoms team and before that spent five years at 3i Group plc. He has a degree in Electronic Engineering.

Humphries' appointment takes the number of technology professionals at HgCapital to six, operating from London and Frankfurt.
