Houlihan Lokey adds to strategic consulting business

The firm has hired John Perkins in Los Angeles

International investment bank, Houlihan Lokey has hired John Perkins to the role of managing director for its strategic consulting business. He will be based in Los Angeles.

Perkins joins the firm from Bain & Company where he worked for nearly 30 years. Most recently, Perkins led Bain's North American debt practice and its Los Angeles private equity practice.

Perkins is the first senior addition to strategic consulting since Houlihan Lokey acquired Bridge Strategy Group in January 2015.

Houlihan Lokey is reported to be preparing for its own IPO later this year. The Wall Street Journal has placed a speculative value on the investment bank of approximately $1.5 billion, if it were to go public.

The bank is believed to be working with Goldman Sachs and Bank of America on the offering.
