Ben Thorndike has joined Huntsman Gay Global Capital as managing director and head of investor relations, a newly created position.
Huntsman Gay wanted to hire an executive responsible for coordinating all of the firm’s interactions with investors and prospects, said a spokesperson. Thorndike is located in the Foxborough, Massachusetts, office.
Separately, Donald Miller recently joined Huntsman Gay as a portfolio group head and operating partner. He previously served as an operating partner and advisor with Gryphon Investors and Industrial Growth Partners. Prior to working at Gryphon, Miller spent 20 years in the technology industry, holding executive management positions with companies including IBM and Fenetre Technology. Miller is based at the firm’s Silicon Valley office.
Huntsman Gay, which focuses on mid-market leveraged buyouts, growth equity investments and strategic investments in mid-cap public companies, joins a string of companies beefing up its investor relations teams. In March, First Reserve Corporation, the energy-focused private equity firm, hired former CP Eaton executive Chris Pietersen as vice president, investor relations and co-investment; and Global Infrastructure Partners hired Susan Healy as its global head of investor relations. 3i recently hired former Veronis Suhler Stevenson executive James Rutherfurd as a partner for investor relations in North America.
