IK to build team in Amsterdam

The firm has established its seventh European office in the Dutch city and is in hiring mode.

IK Investment Partners will add three investment professionals to its newly opened Amsterdam office, a spokeswoman for the firm told Private Equity International on Tuesday.

The firm opened an office in Amsterdam this week to support existing portfolio companies in the Benelux region, as well as to give it “a superb investing platform from which to execute transactions,” Remko Hilhorst, partner and head of the Benelux region at IK, said in a statement.

Hilhorst, who has been with the firm since 2001 and has been based in its London office, will lead the Amsterdam office, which includes six investment professionals from the firm’s mid-cap team. The firm will also hire three professionals to establish a Benelux-focused unit of its small-cap investment strategy. The firm raised its debut small-cap fund last year.

IK has made 13 investments in Benelux since the mid-90s and its current portfolio includes four companies in the region across the industrial, business services and consumer sectors.

The firm celebrated a successful fundraising year in 2016, holding final closes for both its debut small-cap fund on €277 million and its eighth flagship fund on €1.8 billion. Prior to this week, the firm already had offices London, Hamburg, Paris and Stockholm, as well as Luxembourg and St. Helier in Jersey.
