Illinois Teachers’ approves $750m in commitments

The US public pension backed seven PE vehicles in its February 2020 investment committee meeting.

Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Illinois has approved $750 million-worth of private equity commitments, a contact at the pension informed Private Equity International.

The commitments comprise of $75 million to Bregal Sagemount III, $100 million to Clearlake Capital Partners VI, $200 million to MBK Partners Fund V, $15 million to OceanSound Partners, $120 million to Parthenon Investors VI, $40 million to TA Select Opportunities Fund and $200 million to LCM Partners’ corporate debt fund Credit Opportunities IV.

The $53.98 billion US public pension has a 12.10 percent allocation to private equity.

As illustrated below, Illinois Teachers’ has made several commitments to private equity funds, which combined constitute $1.41 billion.
