Intel adds former RealNetworks executive

The captive venture capital wing has hired Jeff Schrock as a Seattle-based investment manager focused on the 'digital home' sector. The former Yahoo! vice president spent less than a year at Monster Venture Partners.

Intel Capital, the captive venture capital arm of semiconductor giant Intel, has appointed former RealNetworks executive Jeff Schrock as an investment manager focusing on the “digital home” sector.

Schrock joins Santa Clara-based Intel less than a year after joining early stage specialist Monster Venture Partners as a partner. At Monster, Schrock was involved in companies primarily in the areas of digital media, consumer internet and mobile technology.

RealNetworks, developer of digital media software such as online music jukebox Rhapsody and RealArcade. Schrock also worked as a vice president for Yahoo!.

Schrock will be based in Seattle, where he will focus on Intel’s digital home portfolio, which includes consumer-focused technologies such as gaming. Intel companies in that portfolio include Bell Rock Media, a content creator for mobile and broadband platforms throughout North America and Japan, and HealthiNation, a health video information company.
