Marsh adds to private equity practice

The risk and insurance services business has bolstered its European private equity and M&A team.

Marsh, the global risk and insurance services firm, has strengthened its private equity and M&A team with the appointment of Lorraine Savill as vice president of the firm’s Private Equity and M&A Practice (PEMA).

Savill will be based in Marsh’s London office, the centre for its European PEMA activities. She will report to Andrew Hunt, a senior vice president of the PEMA practice, and join the 72-strong European team.

At Marsh, Savill will mainly focus on developing transactional risk management products for the UK deal community and strengthen links with the insurance marketplace.

Savill joined Marsh from HSBC, where she worked in the Corporate Finance Insurance Service unit, arranging transactional insurance products for a variety of clients. She is a non-practising solicitor and previously worked for law firm Hammonds in the Corporate Finance unit, advising both public and private companies.

According to the firm, Marsh has been engaged in over 100 private equity deals in the UK and over 200 in Europe over the past 12 months.

Marsh is a unit of global professional services firm Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC), which housed buyout group MMC Capital from 1996 until 2002, when it span out as the independently-run Stone Point Capital.
