New York-based media merchant bank Veronis Suhler Stevenson has hired Thomas Kemp as managing director.
Kemp, who will join VSS in September, formerly served as chairman and chief executive officer for Penton Media, which published 50 business magazines and produces more than 50 trade shows and conferences globally. Kemp has a long history of experience in the business-to-business media industry; he began his career at Miller Freeman, now CMP Books, where he worked for more than 20 years and served as president and chief operating officer.
Veronis Suhler Stevenson targets investments in media, communications and information sectors. VS&A Communications Partners III is the bank’s third private equity fund, capitalized at $1 billion. The firm most recently sold energy publisher Hart Publications in a management buyout backed by a Denver-based energy investment group led by Wiegers Capital Management and Compass Advisers.
