US-headquartered placement agent Monument Group has hired Karl Adam as a director for its London office.
He joined the team at the start of the year and is responsible for coordinating with German-speaking and UK-based institutional investors and general partners, according to a statement. He will also be involved with sourcing, due diligence and fundraising.
Adam’s previous experience includes over a year working as vice president at Citi Private Bank, where he was responsible for overseeing investor relations in European private equity opportunities. He also spent four years as a senior associate at single family office Alta Advisers, focusing on private equity and natural resources funds. Other roles included two years as an investment associate in mid-market Australian private equity firm CHAMP and two years as a business analyst at global management consulting firm McKinsey & Company.
“Karl brings more than 10 years of experience and strong buyside skills to our team in London,” Janet Brooks, a partner at the firm, said in the statement. “His contribution will further boost our presence in Europe and enhance our coverage with both investors and general partners.”
Monument mainly assists European and US firms, but has expanded its Asian presence since opening offices in Hong Kong and Tokyo in March last year. It also has offices in Boston and London.
The firm has helped general partners raise 69 funds, with a total value of $80 billion, according to its statement. Among its recent mandates was to help raise Nordic-focused Altor Equity Partners’ Fund IV. The 2014-vintage vehicle hit its €2 billion target.
