The Carlyle Group has made two new appointments to its Carlyle Europe Venture Partners (CEVP) fund.
Wouter Moerel joins as a director of the fund and will focusing on making investments within the telecommunications services sector. Claudio Giulano has also been appointed to the team principally to work on investments in the communications technology sector.
Moerel, a Dutch national, has eight years of telecommunications experience, most recently as a vice president for JP Morgan, working with clients on corporate finance and M&A, and prior to that as vice president of the European telecommunications, media and technology group for Lehman Brothers.
Italian national Giuliano joins from BainLab in Italy, where he took a key role in the investment process and managed the development of technology start-ups.
Both Moerel and Giuliano will be based in Carlyle's London offices. CEVP now has ten people on its team who have experience in the fund's main areas of interest: communications technologies and services, software infrastructure, online business services, and online financial services.
Carlyle Europe Venture Partners is an E730m fund that invests in core infrastructure technologies and services.
