Friends Ivory & Sime Private Equity (FISPE) has hired Kevin Whittle as a director in the portfolio management division.
Prior to joining the firm, Whittle gained some hands on private equity experience whem he served as CEO of EWS Group, a venture capital backed MBI. Before that he was with Ernst & Young Corporate Finance advising on private equity deals.
Whittle said he had been drawn to the position at FISPE because the company had a dedicated sector focus and a pro-active approach to portfolio management.
FISPE invests between £2m and £30m in beyond start-up European companies operating in the business services, consumer markets, healthcare, IT and media and communications sectors.
The firm has a UK focus, but also invests in continental Europe by way of a joint venture, TEuroCapiton, that it operates with Residex Venture Capital Network in the Netherlands as well as Capiton, the German venture capitalist. EuroCapiton has £50m to invest in pan-European consolidation opportunities.
