Bert Elema has joined Netherlands-based Waterland Private Equity as finance manager.
He previously worked for ATC Trustees in Amsterdam as a senior manager and account manager. While there, he was responsible for administrative, legal and fiscal issues relating to holding and finance companies, partnerships, foundations and securitisation vehicles, for both private individuals and listed companies.
Elema, who holds a master’s degree in financial economics from the University of Amsterdam, had previously worked for Heineken and ABN Amro Bank in various administrative roles.
Waterland is an independent private equity firm focused on ‘buy and build’ investments in fragmented growth markets in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Germany. It has a particular focus on outsourcing and efficiency, ageing populations and leisure and luxury and has invested in sectors including funeral and cremation services, childcare, adventure travel and financial staffing.
