Waltham, Massachusetts-based early-stage venture firm North Bridge Venture Partners has brought aboard Jeffrey Beir as general partner.
Bier most recently served as executive vice president of products at Documentum, a division of EMC. Earlier, he had founded and served as chief executive officer of eRoom Technology, a collaboration technology business that was acquired by Documentum in 2002 for more than $200 million. Documentum was purchased by EMC in October 2003 for $1.7 billion.
North Bridge focuses on investments in communications, software and other technology markets. The firm currently manages approximately $1.3 billion in capital. Past investments include ArrowPoint Communications, Cascade Communications, eRoom Technology, Phase Forward, Solidworks, Sonus Networks, Sycamore Networks and Wellfleet Communications.
