New York State Teachers’ Retirement System approved $892.25 million-worth of private equity commitments across seven vehicles in Q4 2019, according to the pension’s January 2020 Board meeting materials.

The commitments comprised of $150 million each to Valor Equity Partners V and MBK Partners V; $200 million apiece to Abbott Select EM Buyouts (fund-of-one) and Clearlake Capital Partners VI; $100 million to H.I.G. WhiteHorse Principal Lending Fund; $75 million to EIV Capital Fund IV; and $17.25 million to EIV Capital Fund IV Top-Up Fund: a co-investment vehicle investing alongside the aforementioned parent fund.

The $120.48 billion US public pension has an 8.0 percent target allocation to private equity that currently stands at 7.80 percent.

As illustrated below, NYSTRS has made 20 known commitments to private equity vehicles with a 2019 vintage, which combined constitute $2.57 billion.
