OMERS turns the aim at direct investments

The Canadian public pension fund intends to capitalise on direct investments to achieve better returns.

Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) said it aims to push the allocation of direct investments to over 90 percent in its private equity programme by 2020.

In 2016, OMERS achieved a net return of 12.6 percent from its direct portfolio, more than the fund's overall net return of 10.3 percent.
