Partner promotions at TVM

The technology venture capitalist has made three of its dealmakers partners of the firm, taking the total number to 14.

TVM Techno Venture Management has made three of its dealmakers partners of the firm, taking the total number to 14. The new partners are Dr Rodney Altman, Dr Hubert Birner and Mark Cipriano.

Dr. Altman has been a dealmaker on the firm’s life science team and is a director of a number of portfolio companies such Confluent Surgical. Prior to joining TVM, he was the assistant medical director of the emergency department at MacNeal Hospital, Chicago and a clinical instructor at the University of Chicago.

Dr Birner is on the Munich life science team. He is on the board of US companies Direvo Biotech and Merix Bioscience, and Jerini in Berlin. Before TVM, he held senior positions at AstraZeneca and McKinsey & Company.

Cipriano is in the firm’s corporate finance division in Boston. He joined TVM in February 2000, having been the director of finance at venture capital firm Ascent Venture Partners.

TVM Techno Venture Management, founded in 1983, was one of the first venture capital funds formed in Germany. The company has offices in Munich, Boston and San Francisco from which it has made more than 200 investments in IT and life sciences businesses across Europe and the US. Today the firm has more than E1bn in assets under management.
