SL Capital adds two fundraisers

The Edinburgh-based firm has bolstered its team with former Goldman Sachs and Feri Trust Germany executives

SL Capital Partners, the private equity arm of Edinburgh-based Standard Life Group, has strengthened its distribution team with two senior hires, according to a statement.

The firm has hired Robert Kellermann and Alan Coffey, who will be focusing on raising funds for SL Capital as well as working on more bespoke products for LPs.

Kellermann will lead SL Capital’s efforts in the German, Austrian and Swiss markets as head of the DACH region, while Coffey will focus on SL Capital’s efforts in the UK and continental Europe, including the Nordic market.

Kellermann has joined SL Capital from investment advisory and management company Feri Trust Germany, where he was head of institutional clients. Prior to this hew was with Pioneer Investments KAG Munich, where he was head of consultant relations for Germany and Switzerland. Kellermann also spent seven years in several roles at Allianz Global Investors in Germany.

Coffey has joined after almost a decade at Goldman Sachs AIMS Group in London where he worked as a private equity specialist, primarily focused on the European, Middle East and Latin American Markets.

“SL Capital Partners has experienced a period of significant growth and positive change this year, as we continue to drive forward new investment programmes in private equity funds, co-investments and secondary opportunities, whilst further strengthening our direct infrastructure investment capabilities,” Roger Pim, managing partner at SL Capital, said in the statement.

In the past 15 years SL Capital has raised over €8.2 billion through 25 funds, with more than 80 percent of this capital raised from third party investors. In August, PEI revealed SL raised $190 million for its maiden secondaries fund.

SL Capital has 21 dedicated investment professionals who manage commitments to more than 120 private equity partnerships on a primary and secondary basis. The firm sits on almost 100 fund advisory boards. The business is 40 percent owned by its partners, with Standard Life Investments retaining 60 percent. In total SL Capital Partners has 53 staff operating through offices in Edinburgh, Boston, Hong Kong and Munich.
