UK-based law firm, Speechly Bircham, has increased its private equity team following the announcement of several appointments.
Working with the firm's financial services and tax practices, the private equity group advises on the structuring and formation of funds, management incentives, investments and divestments, and leveraged buy-outs with a particular focus on the mid market.
As part of the round of appointments, Dee Sian, who has acted for Quester, 3i, Alta Berkley and Frontiers Capital, has been made a new associate. Prior to joining Speechly, Sian was an associate in the Reading private equity team at Osborne Clarke.
Last year, Speechly also announced the appointments of Kieran O’Connor, Mathew Sillett and Wayne O’Neil, also from Osborne Clarke.
The private equity team now includes four full time partners and at least two part-time partners. According to Stephen Armstrong, corporate partner at Speechly Beecham, an additional appointment of an acquisition finance partner is likely to take place in the next ten days.
Commenting on the opportunities in the buyout industry going forward, Armstrong said: “I think the technology sector went through a huge dip and has to be open to more deals this year. The other area is PTPs. We have already seen a number of deals that have started to hit the press and we are working on a number at the moment.”
