T-Venture, the venture capital arm of Deutsche Telecom, has acquired a minority stake in Hamburg-based messaging and banking technology provider Intercope. The amount of equity invested in the business has not been disclosed.
Reinhart Laumer, founder, president and CEO of Intercope, said: “Based on our mission-critical communications technology, the participation of Deutsche Telekom in Intercope opens tremendous new opportunities.”
The deal involves Intercope taking over TessComm, one of T-Venture´s US-based portfolio companies. Dr. Heike Kehlbeck, investment director at T-Venture, said: “In combining Intercope's 18-year international experience and TessComm´s innovative mass document delivery technologies, T-Venture creates an optimal link-up between old and new economy companies.”
Intercope supplies messaging solutions from application fax to broadcast for fax, e-mail, SMS and voice, for more than 800 corporate customers in 85 countries. Application fax means that faxes are directly taken from, and transmission reports directly returned to, customer applications. The technology offers integration into the available IT infrastructure of enterprises. There is no investment required for the customer and the pricing for the service is per page.
Deutsche Telekom has been using Intercope´s FaxPlus/Open enterprise faxing technology since 1998.
Intercope´s revenues are based on a worldwide partnership network and a growing number of customers. The company was founded in 1982 and has its headquarters in Hamburg Germany. Deutsche Lufthansa was its first customer. IBM is a global reseller of Intercope faxing technology.
