TA Associates has hired a new director in its Mumbai office, according to a statement.
Naresh Patwari, who joins the firm from Indian alternative asset manager ICICI Venture, took up the post on 1 September, and will focus on investments in growth companies in India and other emerging markets, TA said in a statement. Patwari’s appointment takes staff count in TA’s Mumbai office up to 10.
TA did not respond to a request for comment at press time.
As a principal, and previously a vice president, at ICICI, Patwari led deal sourcing, due diligence, transaction execution and portfolio management for investments in the consumer and retail, media, healthcare, and energy sectors. Prior to this Patwari worked as an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company where he advised on portfolio mix, growth strategy, mergers and acquisitions, operating model, strategic planning and incentives.
Dhiraj Poddar, TA’s co-head of India, said in a statement that Patwari is “well-versed in all aspects of the Indian private equity market,” and therefore positioned to play a “pivotal role” in advising the firm on prospective investments.
In January, TA strengthened its Asia offering by announcing it had named Ed Sippel and Naveen Wadhera, both previously directors at the firm, as co-heads of Asia.
Founded in 1968, TA is a mid-market growth private equity firm which has raised $18 billion in capital and invested in more than 440 companies since its inception. It has offices in Boston, Menlo Park, London, Mumbai and Hong Kong.
