Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Illinois approves $344 million in commitments

The US public pension has backed six private equity funds.

Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Illinois has agreed to commit a total of $344 million to six private equity funds, a contact at the pension informed Private Equity International.

The commitments are made up of $50 million to DCP China Credit Fund II, $50 million to Proterra Credit Fund, $100 million to Trident VIII, $95 million to TA XIII, £14 million ($18 million) to Inflexion Enterprise V and £25 million ($31 million) to Inflexion Supplemental V.

The $51.05 billion US public pension has a 15.0 percent target allocation to private equity that currently stands at 12.90 percent.

As illustrated in the charts below, the pension has made six private equity commitments to funds with a 2019 vintage, which comprise of two mezzanine / debt funds, two venture capital / growth equity funds, one co-investment vehicle and one buyout fund.
