US private equity firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe has added three senior operating executives to assist the firm in both evaluating investment opportunities and improving portfolio performance.
The New York-based business services and healthcare specialist appointed former InnerPulse chief Daniel Pelak, former Bell Canada vice president Jeffrey Gallant, and former Cerberus Capital Management executive Scott Bontempo to the firm’s WCAS Resources Group, which is composed of 13 other operating executives.
Pelak will focus on Welsh Carson’s healthcare activities. Prior to leading Innerpulse, a privately held, early stage cardiac medical device company, he served as chief executive for Closure Medical Corporation, a laceration remedy developer.
“It’s really just adding on to our resources,” Jonathan Rather, Welsh Carson general partner and chief financial officer, told PEO. “When you run across and individual like Dan, which you’ve known for a long time, you just jump at the opportunity.”
Gallant, formerly a vice president of procurement at Canadian telecom giant BCE, will focus on implementing supply chain and procurement strategies across the firm’s portfolio. Gallant also held procurement positions at IBN and Baxter.
Bontempo will be responsible for the implementation of various human resources initiatives across the portfolio. At Cerberus, he was charged with personnel issues concerning due diligence, executive staffing and business transformation. Prior to Cerberus, Bontempo was senior vice president of human resources at Dex Media, a former Welsh Carson portfolio company.
Rather said the firm is looking to add more senior operating expertise and will likely add two more members to its Resources Group in the near future.
