Going Private "Like Having A Tattoo Removed, Layer By Layer"
CallWave was delisted from the Nasdaq on June 30 and re-emerged today as Fuze Box, after settling two lawsuits from dissident shareholders and battling two hostile takeover attempts, according to CEO Jeff Cavins. Also, Cavins is still recovering from a case of pneumonia. "Taking a company private is like having a tattoo removed -- incredibly painful," he said. "Once you get on the other side, you don't have time to celebrate. You're so exhausted, and you've got a business to run." Cavins joined CallWave a couple of years ago after the company went public -- in 2004 -- with an Internet telephony product for people who still used dial-up to get online. The product would route phone calls to your computer screen if you were surfing the Web and then back to your phone if you wanted to talk.
