Advent hires industrial consultant

Angelo Brisimitzakis, former chief executive officer of Compass Minerals, will help Advent evaluate investment opportunities in North America’s chemicals and materials sectors.

Angelo Brisimitzakis has joined Advent International’s operating partner programme as a consultant to work closely with the firm’s industrial team, according to a statement.

Brisimitzakis has 35 years of chemicals industry experience, including working as the chief executive officer of Compass Minerals, a salt and specialty fertiliser producer. At Compass, he led multi-staged investments helping the company expand its salt mining assets, according to the statement.

Prior to Compass, Brisimitzakis worked at Great Lakes Chemical Corporation, which produces flame retardants and pool chemicals.  He also held a number of management positions at General Electric, where he worked for 14 years, the statement revealed.

Advent’s operating partner programme includes 60 senior industry executives who consult on specific sectors and conduct due diligence. Advent has more than 25 years of experience in the chemicals and materials sectors. It has invested in more than 30 chemicals companies globally and recently backed additive supplier Allnex as well as Mondo Minerals.

Earlier this year, Advent appointed two chemical industry professionals to its operational team in China. Michael Ming-Yue Zhu joined the operating partner programme and William Tsao joined the firm as an industry advisor.  Both have been working from Advent’s Shanghai office, which opened in April.
