The Carlyle Group’s fund of funds arm AlpInvest Partners has hired Eric Hanno as a principal on the investment team, a Carlyle spokesperson wrote in an email to Secondaries Investor.
Hanno is replacing Wyley Scherr who left in February to join mid-market private equity firm Brynwood Partners, PEI’s sister title Secondaries Investor reported.
He will source, conduct due diligence and manage private equity investment opportunities from the AlpInvest’s New York office. His first day was Monday and he will report to managing director and head of North America Marek Herchel.
Hanno previously worked at AlpInvest as an associate from March 2010 through March 2011, according to his LinkedIn profile. He left to join the direct and primary investment team at Partners Group, most recently as a senior vice president.
“We are excited to welcome Eric back to the AlpInvest team to continue growing the business,” said Jacques Chappuis, managing director and head of Carlyle’s solutions group. “His experience in evaluating and managing primary relationships across the integrated platform reinforces our commitment to create value for our investors.”
Hanno’s appointment comes days after Carlyle’s solutions group lost its head of sales and marketing Neil Collins, PEI’s sister title Secondaries Investor disclosed. It is understood Collins left to pursue a hedge fund opportunity in Connecticut.
