A&M strengthens Amsterdam team

Alvarez & Marsal has appointed Age Lindenbergh to lead its financial services transactions team in Europe

Professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal has appointed Age Lindenbergh as managing director and leader of its financial services transactions team in Europe, the firm said in a statement.

Lindenbergh will be based in Amsterdam and will also be focusing on building A&M’s transaction advisory group across the Benelux region.

Lindenbergh joins A&M from KPMG in Amsterdam, where he was a senior transactions and restructuring partner, leading restructuring engagements and supporting banks and insurers with their capital planning.

Lindenbergh has more than 15 years’ experience advising financial instituions on transaction, regulatory and operational issues, and has been involved in more than 250 transactions with an aggregated value of more than €120 billion, according to A&M.

Specialising in developing “customised solutions that address complex acquisition, disposal and restructuring situations”, Lindenbergh has been “significantly” involved in bank restructurings across Europe since the start of the financial crisis, and has provided support on state aid restructuring situations in the Netherlands, Ireland and Cyprus.

“As the European financial services industry continues to experience considerable change, increased activity in merger and acquisitions is predicted along with the sector’s evolving pan-European orientation,” Paul Aversano, the global head of A&M’s transaction advisory group, said in a statement. “Within the private equity market, traditional financial accounting and tax support will need to be bolstered with the bench strength of operational, industry and functional expertise.”
