Atlas VI to be “bigger than the last one”

The VC is reported to have closed its sixth fund.

Atlas Venture, the international early stage venture capitalist, said on Localbusiness.com that it has closed its latest fund, Atlas VI.

A spokesman would not say how much Atlas had raised, but told PEO the fund “will be bigger than the last one”.

Atlas’s last fund, Atlas V, closed at $750m in February 2000. The majority of it has been invested in internet investments.

The spokesman said the new fund would be announced “later this month”. He would not give details of the fund’s investment focus.

Founded in 1980, Atlas Venture manages five international funds, with $1.6bn in committed capital. Of Atlas’s 14 flotations last year 11 were biotech companies.
