Newlans, a developer of radio frequency solutions for mobile devices, has raised an additional $5 million from Verizon Ventures to complete its Series B round. In February, the Acton, Mass.-based company raised $15 million in a Series B funding round led by Intel Capital and including Paladin Capital Management and Lockheed Martin Corp. The company has now raised $27 million in equity funding, according to Thomson Reuters (publisher of peHUB).

Fyusion, which develops 3D photo technology, has raised $3.35 million in a Series A round. New Enterprise Associates and UTEC led the round, with participation from angel investors, including Andreas Bechtolsheim, co-founder of Sun Microsystems, and James Joaquin, former CEO of Ofoto and Xoom. The funding is the company's first institutional round. San Francisco-based Fyusion develops 3D technology for a consumer app called Fyuse, which could have uses for in robots.

Canvas Venture Fund announced that Paul Hsiao has joined the firm as a general partner and founding managing member. Hsiao moves over to Canvas from New Enterprise Associates, where he served as a partner and was an investor in Houzz, Boingo, Elance, 42Floors and others. Hsiao becomes the fourth GP at Canvas, which spun out of Morgenthaler Ventures last year and is investing from its $175 million inaugural fund.

Factorli, a manufacturing startup based in Downtown Las Vegas, announced it has raised a $10 million Series A round of funding from Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos.com, and the VegasTechFund. Factorli was founded by Jen McCabe, former head of customer development at Romotive and head of hardware initiatives for the Downtown Project. Most recently, McCabe managed VegasTechFund’s expansion into hardware, funding 21 companies. Factorli operates from a 25,000-square-foot facility that serves as a manufacturing site for small volume runs of new hardware products.

FutureAdvisor, which operates an online-based financial advisory services, announced it has raised $15.5 million Series B round that was led by Canvas Venture Fund. Existing investors, including Sequoia Capital, also participated in the round. As part of the funding, Rebecca Lynn, managing director of Canvas, has joined the board. FutureAdvisor has now raised $21.5 in total financing.
