Pac-12 conference considers selling 10 pct stake to private equity: The Oregonian

The Pac-12 Conference is exploring selling a 10 percent stake to private equity firms for $500 million, The Oregonian reported Dec. 29. The story did not reveal if it has held talks with PE firms. Pac-12’s broadcast rights, sponsorship rights, merchandising and all other commercial assets would be consolidated under “Pac-12 NewCo,” the Oregonian said.

KSL Capital Partners LLC has invested in Under Canvas. Financial terms weren’t announced. Under Canvas, of Bozeman, Montana, owns and operates luxurious camping or “glamping” accommodations near popular national parks.

Carlyle, GIC to buy 10 pct of SBI Life Insurance Co for $742 mln: Economic Times

Carlyle Group and GIC are buying a 10 percent stake in SBI Life Insurance Co from BNP Paribas Cardif for $742 million, the Economic Times said. Carlyle and GIC beat out bids from KKR and Temasek, the story said. The proposal from Carlyle and GIC has been sent to the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (Irda) for approval, ET said.

NEC to buy KMD for $1.2 bln

NEC Corp said Dec. 27 that it is buying KMD Holding ApS for about 8 billion Danish kroner ($1.2 billion). Advent International is the seller. KMD is holding company of KMD A/S, which provides software and IT services in Denmark.

Modern Aviation buys Gateway USA LLC

Modern Aviation, which is backed by Tiger Infrastructure Partners, said Dec. 26 that it acquired Gateway USA LLC. Financial terms weren’t announced. Gateway USA operates one of the two main FBOs at Boeing Field in Seattle.

Editas CFO to join Bain Capital: Boston Business Journal

Editas Medicine Inc said Dec. 21 that CFO Andrew Hack, M.D., Ph.D., is stepping down effective March 1. Editas said he is returning to the investment industry. The Boston Business Journal is reporting that Hack is joining Bain Capital as a managing director. Editas is a genome editing company.
