Sprout Social raised close to $42 million in a Series C funding round, bringing Sprout Social’s total capital raised to $60 million. Goldman Sachs' merchant banking division and New Enterprise Associates invested in the round. As part of the funding, Jason Kreuziger, a vice president at Goldman Sachs, will join Sprout Social’s board of directors.

ZeaKal, a biotechnology startup focused on improving agricultural productivity, raised $5.3 million in a Series B financing round led by Finistere Ventures. Middleland Capital and several family office investors participated in the oversubscribed round. ZeaKal also acquired Algenetix, a biotechnology company developing renewable materials and energies from plant-based sources. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. In 2013, Algenetix raised $2 million in a Series A funding round led by Two Oceans, according to a separate press release.
