Brooks joins Monument(3)

Pioneer investor relations executive Janet Brooks is leaving ECI after 15 years to join the European operations of US placement firm Monument Group

Monument Group, a private equity placement agent, is boosting its team in Europe with the appointment of Janet Brooks, a 15-year veteran from UK mid-market firm ECI. Brooks, formerly a director and board member of UK middle-market private equity firm ECI, is joining Monument's London affiliate in October.

At ECI Partners, Brooks was responsible for the firm’s investor relations and fundraising. She was one of the first such internal investor relations professionals in Europe.

During her time at ECI, Brooks oversaw fundraising for four institutional funds from a diverse group of investors including endowments, foundations, pension funds, financial institutions, and fund of funds worldwide. She also developed ECI’s firm-wide marketing strategies for deal flow, investor relations, and general strategic direction.

Ken Landsberg, managing director of ECI, said Brooks was looking for a fresh challenge and the time to pursue it was now. He said the firm had no one lined up to replace her and was interviewing for the post.

Brooks is a member of the British Venture Capital Association’s investor relations committee, and has previously served in a similar capacity for the European Venture Capital Association. Before joining ECI Brooks served in various investment roles with VenCap International and Charterhouse Investment Management.

Monument Group opened a London office in 2005. Martin Anthonsen, formerly a senior member of the investment teams at Nordic Alternative Investment Advisors and financial group Länsförsäkringar, joined Monument Group shortly after the London office opened as a managing director.

Laurence Zage, managing director, and Steve Cahill, vice president, both joined from Helix Associates, where Zage was head of Helix’s research team.

Monument is advising Vitruvian Partners on its debut fundraising.
